Chlamydia and gonorrhea are bacterial infections, which can occur in the genitals, anus or throat. Chlamydia or gonorrhea infections of the throat can not be detected during a standard urine test but need to be checked for using an oral swab.
Get tested for oral infections with the STI swab test from DrEd - our service is discreet, fast and confidential. We will send you an easy to use test kit to use in the comfort of your own home. When you have collected your sample, you will send it to our partner laboratory using the prepaid envelope provided. You will receive your results within three days of your sample reaching the laboratory. Postage and delivery are included.

Although this is not commonly known, infections of chlamydia and gonorrhea in the throat are far from rare. The bacteria which cause either STI are easily transmitted during oral sex, especially during unprotected intercourse (without a condom). Both infections can cause complications and require antibiotic treatment. If you have had unprotected oral sex with someone whose sexual health status you are unaware of, you should consider getting checked for oral infections.
The test kit comprises of a swab test, which requires you to take a sample from your throat. The test kit comes with a leaflet with detailed instructions. You must follow these instructions carefully to ensure your test result is accurate. When you have taken the sample as explained on the leaflet, you need to place it in the pre-addressed and prepaid envelope provided. You can post it in any post box.
Once the laboratory has received your sample, it will take one to three days for your results to become available. You will receive your result via your electronic patient record. We will send you an email asking you to login to your patient record - we will never send you confidential information such as a test result via email. If your result comes up positive for either or both infections, you will require treatment. If your test result is negative, you do not carry either infection in the throat.
Oral chlamydia is transmitted when you have unprotected oral sex with someone who carries the infection. It is passed from the sexual organs to your mouth and throat, where the bacteria continue to live and multiply. The infection does not necessarily cause any symptoms, so you won’t necessarily notice that you have it. If you have had unprotected oral sex with a partner who might have chlamydia, you should get tested.
You can avoid infection by using a condom every time you have sex - regardless of whether you are having oral, anal or vaginal intercourse. You should only have unprotected sex if you and your partner have both been tested negative for STIs.
Chlamydia is not the only STI which can be transmitted orally. Like chlamydia, gonorrhea of the throat is often symptomless. However, in some cases it has been found to cause symptoms such as a sore throat, pain and discharge. Using a condom every time you have sex will protect you from oral gonorrhea.
This is the first time I have used this service. Website was easy to navigate and online questions very clear. prompt response and delivery of malaria tablets.
I cannot believe how easy it was to order, pay and then receive the goods. They kept me informed throughout. I wish all companies were this easy to deal with
I have been prescribed the same medication for over 4 years, yet I still have the hassle of taking valued time off work to visit my GP/local pharmacy for repeat prescriptions. This tedious exercise costs me a half day's annual leave for little more than a blood pressure reading and ironically, I own my own electronic blood pressure meter! DrEd.com - inexpensive, well packaged and prompt delivery.
Placed order one day delivered the next in discrete packaging, treatment worked as directed. Would use again and reccomed
A very good service very helpful with all my needs i would tell all my friends if they needed help
